Durga Puja

The city of Howrah has a variety of festivals throughout the year, and an amazing mix of fairs.Durga Puja is the most joyful, interesting and the main festival celebrated in Howrah. Apart from this, other notable festivals celebrated in Howrah are Saraswati Puja, Diwali, Kali Puja, Eid, Holi (or Doll) and New Year (or Bengali New Year).Book fair is an annual feature of Howrah city. This fair known as. “Howrah Book Fair” is held at Sarat Sadan Complex, in winter. Excellent crowds, book stocks, seminars and exhibitions by famous authors are always part of this famous book fair in Howrah. In addition to these cultural events, the book fair is held every year and includes dance, music, “drama” and recitation. Howrah Book Fair is also proud of the “Poet Conference” which showcases Urdu and Hindi poetry.
