The District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP) provides a framework and direction to the government agencies for all phases of the disaster management cycle. It is in accordance with the provisions of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and the established practices. Relevant agencies – central, state or district – will carry out disaster management activities in different phases in the disaster-affected areas depending on the type and scale of the disaster.
The DDMP provides a framework covering all aspects of the disaster management cycle. It covers disaster risk reduction, mitigation, preparedness, response, recovery, and betterment reconstruction. It recognizes that effective disaster management necessitates a comprehensive framework encompassing multiple hazards. The DDMP incorporates an integrated approach that ensures the involvement of government agencies, numerous other relevant organizations, private sector participants, and local communities.
