About the Block: |
Domjur Development Block is the largest block in the Howrah District spreading across an area of 97.3 sq. km. & situated in the northern side of district & lying at a distance of 17 k.m. from District Head quarter. It is bounded on its west by Block Jagatballavpur, south by Block Sankrail, north east by Bally-Jagacha & to the east lies Howrah Municipal Corporation area. At its west it shares common boundary with district Hooghly. The block lies in close proximity of Santragachi Railway Station and is well connected with Howrah Station via Howrah-Amta Railway lines. The block office is situated on the Howrah-Amta Road (State Highway-63) having the Latitude & longitude of 22o37’38.6” North & 88o13’58.5” East respectively. This block is co-extensive with Domjur Police Station. The block comprises of eighteen Gram Panchayat and spreads partly across three Assembly Constituencies i.e. 174- Sankrail(SC) AC under 25th Howrah Parliament Constituency,183-Jagatballavpur AC under 27th Srerampur Parliament Constituency & 184-Domjur AC under 27th Srerampur Parliament Constituency. |
